Forward Uniplan Advisors, Inc. was established in 1984 to provide portfolio management to individuals and institutions. Rick Imperiale, principal and founder of Forward Uniplan Advisors is the firm's president as well as the portfolio manager. Rick is a pioneer in REIT investing, managing REITs since 1988. Rick also was a key developer and manager of one of the first hedged municipal bond funds.

The Forward Uniplan Advisors investment team has experience managing a range of investments including both stocks and bonds. Forward Uniplan Advisors has investment professionals in both Milwaukee and San Francisco who apply their investment expertise to institutional, separate account and mutual fund portfolios.

Uniplan established a relationship with Forward Management, LLC in May of 1999 to outsource marketing and distribution services related to their investment portfolios. Forward Management is a San Francisco-based investment advisor offering a range of niche-oriented, non-core investment products for individual and institutional investors. As part of its growth strategy, Forward has made investments in boutique money management firms that specialize in non-core asset classes.

In January 2004, Forward Management made an equity investment in Uniplan, and to symbolize the commitment of both firms to providing superior investment vehicles and exceptional client service, Uniplan changed its name to Forward Uniplan Advisors, Inc.

Richard ImperialePresident and Portfolio Manager

Mr. Imperiale founded Uniplan in 1984 and oversees the general management of the firm's day-to-day performance. Before his work at Uniplan, he was instrumental in the development and management of one of the first hedged municipal bond funds for B.C. Ziegler, a regional brokerage firm. Prior to that, Mr. Imperiale worked as a credit analyst for a major Midwest bank. Mr. Imperiale holds a B.S. in Finance from Marquette University Business School and has completed a postgraduate lecture series in Corporate Finance from the University of Chicago.

Rick Imperiale is the author of Real Estate Investment Trusts: New Strategies for Portfolio Management, as well as The Micro Cap Investor: Strategies for Making Big Returns in Small Companies.
